Have you noticed the first signs of aging on your skin? It could be anything from age spots, winkle to fine lines around your lips, forehead, or even eyes. However, before you buy the most expensive anti-aging cream out there, you should make some lifestyle modifications that will surely work in your favor and prevent more such signs.
1. Avoid excess exposure to the sun
Excess exposure to the sun is the number one cause of wrinkles and many studies have proved it. By staying indoors while the sun is the strongest you can protect your skin from sun rays. Additionally, wear sunscreen every time you go out. Apply it at least half an hour before stepping out in the sun and reapply it after several hours.
2. Quit smoking
Many studies have shown that smoking has many bad effects on our health, but it also causes premature aging of the skin, mostly by reducing blood supply and nourishment to the skin. This makes the skin lose its moisture and elasticity. In addition, while smoking, some repetitive actions, such as squinting to protect the eyes from fumes and constantly dragging the cigarette fumes into mouth cause wrinkles over time at the corners of the mouth and the eyes.
3. Stay hydrated
One of the major causes of excessive wrinkles is insufficient hydration. Your skin needs a constant supply of water in order to stay elastic and moist. If you don’t get enough fluids in your body, cells will begin to lose elasticity and over time wrinkles shall start surfacing.
4. Get adequate sleep
Your body produces excess cortisol when you don’t get enough sleep. This hormone breaks down skin cells. If you get enough rest your body will produce more HGH, which helps skin remain thick, less likely to wrinkle, and more elastic. In addition, you will feel less tired and there will be a glow on your face.
5. Eat healthy
Eat a diet that is full of vitamins that come from fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts. They are all effective anti-aging foods, due to the antioxidants they all contain.
6. Try face yoga
Just like yoga is a holistic practice that works on your body as well as the mind, face yoga is a bunch of facial exercises to keep your face younger-looking and taut. Many people often forget to work out their facial muscles. However, these exercises help do the same and prevent the aging of your skin.
7. Keep stress at bay
Stress releases hormones, such as cortisol, which decrease muscular tissue beneath your skin. This makes your skin look wrinkled, old, and thinner.
8. Do not over-wash your face
Tap water strips the skin of its natural barrier moisture and oil which protect against wrinkles. If you wash them off too often, you will wash away protection. Use a cleanser if your soap doesn’t contain moisturizers.
9. Use a moisturizer
Many women often overlook the power of a simple moisturizer, because they are so concerned with anti-aging products. Skin which is moist just looks better so creases and lines are far less noticeable.
10. Consult a dermatologist
If you would like to use lotions, creams, and many other chemical and surgical options, such as fillers, peels, lasers, and Botox, to fight skin aging, you should visit a dermatologist who will guide you well after analyzing your skin.
